The Grampians

I left Melbourne this morning at 530am and as I pulled out of the Car park at the YHA it started to pour with rain, once again I was glad I was on the Spyder as there was quiet a bit of water over the roads as I left Melbourne and it continued to rain until I stopped for breakfast at a macca's in a servo on the outskirts near a place called Baccus Marsh.

Instead of taking the highway I rode along the Geelong Ballan Road which took me out into the countryside where there was farmland and some very nice scenery, I went up through a mountain road and eventually arrived in Ballarat to refuel, the back road was a great ride even though it was a little narrow in places, the road quality was adequate.

After I refueled at Ballarat I took the Western Highway and had reasonable weather until I got to Ararat which is about 70 km and the sky opened I couldn't see more than a few feet in front of me, once again I was glad that I was on the Spyder.

I arrived safely and in one piece even if a little cold, to the YHA at Halls creek which is a very peaceful place.
I am staying up in the Grampians until the 13Th as there is a lot to see and it is very peaceful, on the 13Th I will head back down to Melbourne and stay there until the 15Th when depart for Tasmania.
